A customer voice note vs a usable order

A customer voice note hides an order, an address, a deadline .
Abrège puts them in writing.

Between two customers, nobody replays a three-minute voice note to catch a quantity or a street number. Forwarded to Abrège, it comes back as a short summary with the figures, dates and names pulled out, ready to act on.

Customers talk, your business runs on what they said

Small businesses on WhatsApp Business get more voice notes every month: a shop taking orders, a plumber or electrician booking jobs, an agency collecting client feedback, a sales rep chasing leads. Speaking is quicker for the customer. For you, each voice note means stopping, finding a quiet spot and listening, sometimes twice, to catch the one detail that matters.

Abrège turns that around. You forward the customer's voice note from your WhatsApp Business app to the Abrège contact, exactly like any other message. Within about 10 to 30 seconds, you get a summary in the same chat: what the customer wants, the amounts, dates, times, addresses and names mentioned, and the questions they asked. The full transcription can follow, as text you can copy.

The customer sees nothing. Forwarding in WhatsApp does not notify the sender, and Abrège never contacts your customers. It only sees the voice notes you choose to forward.

WhatsApp Business voice messages to text: how it works

Forward from the WhatsApp Business app

In your WhatsApp Business app, long-press the customer's voice note, tap "Forward", pick the Abrège contact. On a computer, WhatsApp Web and the desktop app work the same way: hover, arrow, Forward. You can select several voice notes at once and get one summary per message, in order.

Abrège is a regular WhatsApp contact, not an integration: there is no API to connect, no inbox to plug in, nothing to install. If your messages go through the WhatsApp Business Platform (API) via a shared-inbox tool, Abrège is not connected to it; it works from the WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business apps, where forwarding is available.

The details that matter, pulled out

Built-in transcription, where your phone offers it, gives you raw text with gaps, and the gaps tend to fall on names, numbers and addresses: exactly what you need to fill an order or book a job. It also summarises nothing, so a three-minute voice note is still a wall of text.

Abrège gives you an accurate transcription and a summary that keeps the actionable parts: "2 boxes of the 5 kg size, delivery Thursday before noon, 14 Market Street, pays on delivery." You copy it into your order book, your quote or your CRM.

By trade: what customers actually send

Shops and restaurants: orders, quantities, pickup times, allergies. Trades: the problem, the address, access instructions, when they are home. Agencies and studios: feedback on a draft, changes, the deadline. Sales teams: budget, quantities, the objection, the date to follow up.

In each case the summary gives you the line you would have written down yourself, without the listening. And if a customer speaks another language, you can have the summary written in English, French, Arabic, Spanish or Portuguese.

Handling customer voice notes: three ways compared

What each approach costs you, per voice note, on a busy day.

Price Free Free Free: 5/month, then from €3/month. Pro €15/month for 200

For a business with a steady flow of voice notes, the free tier is for trying it, not for running on. The Pro plan covers 200 summaries a month for €15, and a €29 plan covers 500. Paid plans come with an invoice.

How it works

Three seconds, zero effort.

Forward the voice note

To Abrège, on WhatsApp. Yours or a friend's.

It listens for you

Six seconds, then the audio is deleted.

You read what matters

The key points, the thing to do. Nothing else.

Your customers' data: what happens to it

The voice note you forward is transcribed and summarised via OpenAI's API, then the audio is deleted from our servers once the summary is sent, with no copy kept. Our servers are in Europe and exchanges are encrypted in transit. We'd rather say plainly that the audio leaves our servers for that step than let you think nothing ever does.

As the business, you remain responsible for your customers' personal data, as with any tool you use. Forward what you need to act on, not everything by reflex.

Cas d'usage

The bakery order that came in by voice

« Friday, 7:40, queue at the counter. A regular sends a two-minute voice note to the shop's WhatsApp Business number about a birthday order. The owner forwards it to Abrège between two customers and reads: "Chocolate cake for 12, name Amara on top, pickup Saturday 4pm, asks if you can do it without nuts." She replies "Yes, see you at 4" before the next customer reaches the till. »

GDPR, hosted in Europe

Amnesiac by design.
We keep nothing.

The moment your summary goes out, the audio file is destroyed from our servers. Unrecoverable, no copy kept. We don't want your data, just to save you time.

One thing to be clear about: to be transcribed, the audio passes through OpenAI's API. That's the only step where it leaves us. See the details .

Deleted immediately

The audio is erased right after the summary is sent.

Never in your groups

Abrège only sees the voice notes you forward it. Never your other chats.

Encrypted in transit

Everything travels over TLS 1.3, impossible to intercept on the way.

Thousands of hours handed back to real life.

The time our users no longer spend listening to rambling monologues. Added up, it starts to count.

Frequently asked questions

About Transcribe customer voice notes on WhatsApp Business

Does Abrège work with a WhatsApp Business account?

Yes. From the WhatsApp Business app (or WhatsApp Web linked to it), you forward the customer's voice note to the Abrège contact like any message, and the summary comes back in that chat. There is nothing to connect or install.

Will the customer know I forwarded their voice note?

No. Forwarding a message in WhatsApp doesn't notify the original sender, and Abrège never writes to your customers. Only you see the summary.

Can Abrège reply to customers automatically?

No. Abrège is not a chatbot and doesn't answer on your behalf. It reads the voice notes you forward and gives you the summary; you reply to your customer yourself, now that you know what they want.

Can I get the full text, not just the summary?

Yes. Full transcription is on by default for new accounts (switchable in settings): you receive the summary first, then the complete text (as an attached file when it is long). It stays in your chat with Abrège, so you can search it later.

Is there a plan for a team?

No self-serve multi-user plan yet. Each person forwards from their own WhatsApp. If your team needs something else, get in touch.

Is it safe for customer data?

The audio is processed via OpenAI's API then deleted from our servers, with no copy kept, and our servers are in Europe. You remain responsible for your customers' personal data, as with any tool, so forward what you need to act on.

FAQ

Questions? We've got answers.

No, never. Abrège works like any regular WhatsApp contact: it only sees the messages you forward or send it directly. It has no access to your other conversations, your groups, or your address book. WhatsApp itself guarantees this: a third-party app cannot read chats it hasn't been invited to. When you forward a voice note, only that one file reaches Abrège, nothing else. And once the summary is sent back, the audio file is immediately deleted from our servers, with no copy kept. To be transparent: to be transcribed, that audio passes through OpenAI's API, the only step where it is handled outside our servers. The rest of your messages stays strictly between you and the people you talk to. In short: Abrège can only read what you explicitly choose to show it, and nothing more.
When you forward a voice note to Abrège, it goes through three quick steps. First transcription: the audio is turned into text by OpenAI's transcription models. Then the summary: a language model pulls out the key points and the action to remember. Finally delivery: you get the result right in your chat, in a few seconds. On the data side, we keep nothing: the audio file is deleted from our servers as soon as the summary is sent to you, with no copy kept, and the text is erased within the hour. Your summary stays in your WhatsApp chat, on your side. Our servers are hosted in Europe and everything is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3).
Yes, rather well. Abrège relies on OpenAI's transcription models, trained on a huge amount of real spoken language, not just textbook speech. In practice it handles regional and non-native accents very well. Everyday language comes through too: slang, casual expressions, hesitations (“er…”, “um…”), broken sentences or fast delivery. That's exactly the point of a genuine, recent AI model compared with basic word-for-word transcription. The limits: on very noisy audio, with several people talking at once, or very rare proper nouns, the transcription may make a few approximations. Even then, you still get your summary, and you can ask for the full text to check the details.
It's commitment-free, and built to stay simple. You start free, with 5 summaries a month, no card required. After that, the subscription starts at 3€/month (launch offer, price locked for life as long as you stay subscribed), with 50 summaries a month included. Payment goes through Stripe, fully secure: card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. You can switch plans or cancel in a single click from your dashboard, with no need to explain yourself or write to a support desk. No fixed term, no sneaky renewal, no nasty surprise on your bill.
Of course, and it's one of its handiest uses. Two ways to do it: either forward Abrège a voice note you received from someone else, or record a voice memo straight into your chat with it, just like you would with any contact. Either way, you get a clear summary back in seconds. Plenty of people use it to talk to themselves: dictate your ideas while walking, and get a written, structured note back. Great for prepping a report, clearing your head before a meeting, or turning a stray thought into a concrete task.
Yes. In WhatsApp, long-press a first voice note, select the others, then tap “Forward” and pick Abrège. Each voice note is handled on its own: you get one summary per voice note, sent as a reply to it, so you always know which is which. Handy after a meeting, or when a chat filled up with voice notes while you were busy. Each voice note counts as one summary in your monthly quota.
That's up to you, and you have three options: the summary only, the summary followed by the full text, or the full text only, without a summary. The summary saves time when a glance is enough; the full text is there to check a detail, a date or an exact quote. The full text arrives in the chat, or as a .txt file when it's too long for a single message (you can also choose always as a message or always as a file). Everything can be set from WhatsApp (type “menu”, then Settings) or from your dashboard, and you can even just tell the bot, for example “I want the transcription”. The setting can be changed at any time.
On purpose, Abrège does not join groups, and that's a privacy choice. A bot sitting in a group could read everyone's messages, which we refuse on principle. So the flow stays simple: when someone drops a 3-minute voice note in the family or work group, you forward it privately to Abrège, you get the summary in seconds, and you come back to the group with the gist. Nobody else needs to install anything, and no message from the group passes through Abrège except the one you choose to send it. Handy, and respectful of everyone.
Too long, didn't read: we save you time on WhatsApp. Stop scrolling and try the bot. Cheers. 🍿

Who's behind Abrège

“I built Abrège because I'd had enough of 5-minute voice notes to say what fits in two sentences.”

It's a tool I use every day myself, and I build it to stay simple, honest and respectful of your privacy.
