SpeakEasy is a very close French service: you forward a WhatsApp voice note, you get the transcription in seconds, and it's cheaper than us. So the difference isn't the channel, it's what you get at the end: them the full text, us the gist, the key points plus the action to take.
Where SpeakEasy is a good choice
Let's be fair: SpeakEasy does its job well, and it's aggressive on price. A French service (Phocea Studio), hosted in Europe, GDPR, accurate transcription even with an accent, and an unlimited plan at a few euros a month where we're pricier. They count in minutes of audio, with a free tier and a cheap unlimited plan, and they even offer a separate Pro product for CRM (meeting reports, business-card scanning). If your need is the raw text of your voice notes at the lowest price, they're a very good choice, and we won't pretend otherwise.
Where Abrège changes the game
The real difference is in what you read at the end. SpeakEasy starts from transcription: you get the message word for word, and the summary is an option. A transcribed 4-minute voice note is still several hundred words to read. Abrège starts from the other end: the summary first, two or three sentences with the gist and the action to take, tuned for spoken language, with the full transcription only if you want it. We're not trying to be cheaper than them, we're trying to get you reading three lines instead of four minutes. And we lean into an angle they don't highlight: accessibility, for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or worn down by listening fatigue, for whom reading the gist changes daily life.

But our free tier goes further than theirs: 5 summaries a month whatever the length, versus 5 minutes of audio total, and we count in summaries, not minutes. Otherwise we don't compete on price but on what you get: the gist plus the action to take, rather than a full text to read.

- Yes, both are French and hosted in Europe, processed automatically with no human reading your messages. On the Abrège side, the audio is deleted right after the summary is sent, with transcription going through OpenAI's API. On that front, we play in the same league.
