⚔️ Abrège vs Transcriber for WhatsApp

One name, two products. Here is how each compares with Abrège.

Search for Transcriber for WhatsApp and you'll find two unrelated things: an Android app by Mirko Dimartino on Google Play, and transcriber.to, a WhatsApp bot you forward voice notes to. Nothing on either says they are linked, so we compare them separately. Abrège is a WhatsApp contact that summarises the voice notes you forward, then gives you the full transcription.

When is Transcriber for WhatsApp a good choice?

Both deserve credit. The Android app has 5M+ downloads and a 4.1 rating on Google Play, it's free with ads, and the text appears inside the app without sending the note to any chat contact. The transcriber.to bot is cheap and generous: 15 free minutes a week (about 30 average voice notes, they say), unlimited for €1.99 a month, 109 languages listed, a cleaned-up transcript and a short TL;DR on longer notes. On price alone, transcriber.to beats our paid plans, which start at €3 a month for 50 summaries. Checked in September 2026.

What does Abrège do differently from Transcriber for WhatsApp?

Against the Android app, the difference is setup and reach: it's an app to install, on Android, and you share each note to it. Abrège needs nothing installed and works the same on iPhone, Android and WhatsApp Web: you forward the note to a contact. Against transcriber.to the gap is narrower, since both are contacts you forward to. What changes is the emphasis: transcriber.to gives you the transcript, with a short TL;DR on notes over about two minutes. Abrège leads with a summary on every note (key points, dates, amounts, names, questions), in the note's language or in English, French, Spanish, Arabic or Portuguese, and the full transcription follows. Our prices are in euros.
